About Wangqing National Forest Park

Located in Wangqing County within the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture of Jilin Province, Wangqing National Forest Park encompasses extensive mixed forests dominated by Korean pine and broadleaf species. The park lies in a transitional zone between temperate and boreal forest ecosystems, supporting abundant flora and fauna including Siberian tigers, Amur leopards, Asiatic black bears, and a variety of migratory birds. The park is characterized by mountainous terrain with valleys, clear streams, and natural hot springs, providing ideal habitats and stunning natural scenery. Historically, this region was part of an important forest conservation initiative established during the late 20th century to protect the endangered Amur tiger’s habitat and preserve biodiversity. Visitors to Wangqing enjoy numerous well-maintained hiking trails that traverse through dense forest, alongside rivers and offers several lookout points providing panoramic views of the forest canopy and nearby peaks. Key landmarks include the tranquil Wangqing Hot Springs area and the rare Old Growth Pine Groves. The park also has cultural significance due to the presence of ethnic Korean communities whose traditions are interwoven with the forest's natural environment. Wangqing National Forest Park offers opportunities for wildlife observation, birdwatching, eco-tourism, and forest bathing, attracting both domestic and international visitors seeking serene natural beauty away from urban centers.
